Dave Christianson
Baseball Director
Dave signed with the San Diego Padres in 1980 out of John F. Kennedy High School in Chicago, Illinois. He played 4 seasons in the Padres and Detroit Tigers minor league systems before retiring in 1984. He has been coaching and training baseball players for 25+ years and is recognized as one of the top baseball coaches in Virginia. He has coached the Salem Post 3 American Legion Baseball Team since 1998 and has also coached The Rip City Showcase Team since 1998. He has seen many of his players go on to play college and even pro baseball. He opened Rip City Baseball Training Center in 1997.

 

 

 


Jared Christianson
Baseball Instructor  
Jared played baseball in Salem.  He was a 3 year starter on The SW Va. Home School High School Baseball Team. He also played 4 seasons of American Legion Baseball for Salem Post 3 and 4 seasons of Fall High School Showcase Baseball. His dynamic and fun approach to developing each player's skills and knowledge of the game has made him one of our most popular instructors. He lives in Salem with his wife Emily

Kevin Harth
Baseball Instructor

Kevin grew up in Salem playing baseball for Roanoke -Salem Baseball Hall of Famer Sandy Hill at Salem H.S. He is currently a coach for the Salem Post 3 American Legion Baseball Team and the Rip City H.S. Players Fall Showcase Team. Kevin has also coached at Andrew Lewis Middle School. He lives in Salem with his wife Gwen and son Zach. 

 

 

 

Matt Trent
Baseball Instructor all Instructor

Matt played baseball at Cave Spring H.S. in Roanoke graduating in 2000. He played college baseball at Wingate University before being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2005. He played 3 years in the Cardinals farm system before being traded to the Colorado Rockies. He finished his career with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League in 2008. Matt's ability to share his experience and knowledge with players of all ages make him one of our top instructors. He lives in Roanoke with his wife Emily.

David played baseball in Salem. He was a 3 year starter for Salem H.S. He also played 3 seasons of American Legion Baseball for Salem Post 3 and for the Rip City H.S. Players Fall Showcase Team. He is excited to work with dedicated ballplayers of all ages who want to reach their potential. He lives in Salem with wife Brandy and daughters Hannah and Grace.

Ron has been The Ladies Fast-Pitch Softball Director at Rip City since its opening in 1997. He coached the Virginia Tech Lady Hokies Fast-Pitch Softball Team from 1990-1994, was an assistant coach at Salem High School from 1995-1997, then coached the Virginia Scrappers Showcase Softball Team until taking over as Salem H.S. Head Coach in 2008 where he was River Ridge District Coach of the Year.
      Ron is one of the Top Fast-Pitch Softball Instructors in Virginia and has been instrumental in helping many young ladies go on to play college softball.

Amy Johnson
Ladies Fast-Pitch
Softball Instructor

Amy grew up playing softball in Tennessee. She played 4 years of softball for Mount Juliet High School, located outside of Nashville. During her time in Nashville she was trained by Doreen Denmon at Club K. Amy went on to play 4 years of college softball for Tennessee Tech University, where she was a member of two OVC Conference and Tournament Championship teams.         
     Amy was also a part of the 2003 Tennessee Tech
 team, which made its first appearance at the National Regional Tournament in Texas. During her time at TTU  Amy was named Player of the Week, Academic All-American, she is on the All-Time Homerun Leader board and was nominated for the Tennessee Tech Woman of the year, and Tennessee Tech's Female Athlete of the year
